Solutions to Frequently
Asked Questions:
I'm
having problems downloading the software...
For a quick download, the standard web
installer only contains the web conferencing software with the assumption that
your computer has all the required Microsoft files. If you are having problems
installing the software, you may need to download the complete Full
WebConference.com Setup Program which includes all Microsoft files.
I'm hosting a
conference and my guests tell me that my screen refresh is too slow
These are most common causes for poor performance, frequent disconnects or screen freezes and their
respective fixes:
- There is spyware installed on your computer.
(Learn how to detect
and fix this problem)
- Your Desktop Wallpaper (background picture)
is too detailed. Please remove it to increase performance.
- Your bandwidth is too limited to send your
screen at 32-bit or 24-bit colors. Lower it to 16-bit by Right-clicking on your desktop, select Properties, choose Settings, and set the colors to 16-bit.
- A program is interfering with your Internet connection. Try shutting down any programs which may connect to the Internet. (e.g. Windows Update, Norton Antivirus,
ZoneAlarm)
- Your computer has run out of resources:
Try rebooting the computer. This will free up memory and network ports on your computer.
Only load the programs you need for your conference.

Can
I have my guests do a "pre-test" prior to the conference?
If they are WINDOWS users, please send them this link:

I am trying to host
a conference but the system tells me that there is a conference currently in
progress
There are 2 reasons for this:
- The previous session was not terminated
properly. Next time, please use the "End Conference" button on the
WebConference screen instead of closing the browser window.
(or)
- Someone else is currently using your
account. If this is the case, you may contact us to change your
username and password.

During a
conference I get an "Abnormal Program Termination (C++ Runtime
Error)" message
This happens when the software did not have enough resources to continue the conference, usually memory, cpu usage, or network ports.
Reboot your computer and only open the programs necessary to host or participate
in a conference. If the problem persists, try disabling anti-virus
software and programs that use internet bandwidth such as ICQ, MSN-AOL-Yahoo Messenger,
etc.

What is
Spyware?
Read this
article from CNet.com. Spyware is a new phenomenon that has been surging in
2003. It is a term used for software that is installed without your knowledge, when you install other software. They operate like a virus, but are not categorized as one since they do not damage your computer. Spyware
is primarily used to collect data about your Internet habits, and report to unscrupulous
third parties. Spyware DOES disrupt conferencing sessions.
We recommend that you download and run a free software
utility called Ad-aware 6.0, also available at download.com. This software is like anti-virus, but for spyware. It will detect any spyware on your computer, list them for you, and give you an option to remove them. Like anti-virus software, you must update its reference file using its automatic updater utility.
There are no spyware removal utilities available for Mac
users.
